High-Temperature Electrolysis Capabilities
H2NEW has a suite of easily accessible capabilities for high-temperature oxide-ion-conducting solid oxide electrolysis (HTE) research and development.
Search and browse capabilities by class, component, national laboratory, and keywords. Also see our low-temperature electrolysis capabilities.
Test fixtures are used for accelerated stress testing to elucidate performance under parametric conditions with full-cell parametric testing while measuring I-V, EIS, steam utilization, impact of gas impurities. Larger cells (fixtures for larger format cells ranging from a few cm² to 100 cm² for larger format cells) provide a better representation of the 3D structure of the cell with wider gas flow and charge distribution. PNNL and INL are currently able to provide this capability. LBNL can also jump to the form of cell testing.
PNNL: Five test fixtures (up to 1 kW; planar cells of various sizes and configurations up to 300 cm²).
INL: Two test fixtures (up to 1 kW; planar cells of various sizes and configuration up to 300 cm²); four test fixtures for high temperature furnaces for HydroGEN.
LBNL: one test fixture can be put into service.
